Baby\’s first firework display
So we saw in November with the traditional firework display put on by the Downend Round Table at the King George V Playing Fields. It was a good display as far as I could tell underneath my umbrella. It was the first outing for baby Button in her new backpack baby carrier. Looking back it probably wasn’t the best test drive as she should have been asleep by the time we left into the dark driving rain. I did, however, think that it was the perfect time to try out the fluorescent yellow waterproof hood that I had expertly attached to keep her dry, but as it turns out being trapped inside a small plastic hood, in a strange piece of furniture being bumped about by Dad, when she would normally have been tucked up in bed, left baby Molly a little upset…or rather screaming her baby lungs out until I looked like a wailing lighthouse walking around the King George V playing fields. She did look cool in her pink ‘Judge Jules’ DJ headphone ear defenders though. So all was not lost, and she seemed to enjoy the bright lights!
So after a sharp exit at the last big bang we went home with our friends and had a party at our house. The star of the show being a slow-cooked pulled ‘firecracker’ beef brisket with sour cream in tortilla wraps, straight from the BBC Good Food magazine #amazing.
Also this month we had a lovely evening with the Carsons Cricket Club at Pomphrey Hill for their end of season dinner that Cleve Chiropractic sponsor. Obviously we look after Downend Cricket Club as well (not wishing to offend anybody!). We sat next to the Conservative MP for Kingswood Chris Skidmore. Now, I have no political persuasions but Chris and his wife-to-be were lovely company. This time of year is so difficult with regard to Christmas parties and drinks out. I spend most of November and December trying not to get too drunk and put on too much weight. It is inevitably a losing battle. I can tell I’m getting older now as I was asked to go ‘down town’, you know ‘out out’ this week and I found myself enquiring if they didn’t mind staying local. It can’t just be me, as they eagerly agreed! Cleve Chiropractic and Next Step themselves will be having their Christmas Party at the Mezze in December once more. We go there most years as it such a lovely place, the food is good, the décor is nice, the price is right and the service is great…and I can walk home!
Keith our famous Physio is doing so well at work that he is moving house! Indeed he is moving from obscurity in Paulton to the centre of the universe…Downend! This way he can increase his availability as he is already getting fully booked. We are running a couple of special offers at the moment for the clinic. Amy our massage therapist is doing half price massages for any new patients who would like to try a sports massage and James is still doing half price personal training to help people…like me…fit into the Christmas clothes!
