2023 marked a remarkable milestone—20 years since Cleve Chiropractic and Physiotherapy Centre first opened its doors. What began as a single room at Cleve Rugby Club, where Tim Button—just 23 years old and the 2033rd chiropractor on the UK register—saw his very first patient, has grown into one of the region’s most respected multidisciplinary healthcare clinics.
From Humble Beginnings to a Community Cornerstone
In 2003, Tim was juggling a start-up practice, a portable treatment bench, and long commutes to Minehead and Fishponds. By day he worked with patients, by night he was already shaping his reputation as a trusted sports chiropractor for elite teams including Bath Rugby, Bristol Rugby, and soon after, Bristol Rovers FC, where he served as First Team Chiropractor for an incredible 20 seasons.
But the real transformation began in 2010, when Cleve took a bold leap from a single room to a four-roomed clinic with an X-ray suite and its very first employee, Kate Smart. That spirit of growth never stopped.
Growing With Purpose
In 2013, we expanded again, launching Next Step Physiotherapy, and by 2016, physiotherapist Keith Graham joined the leadership team to develop this arm of the business. We became more than a chiropractic clinic. We became a centre where chiropractors, physiotherapists, sports therapists and other complementary practitioners work together under one roof for the best possible patient outcomes.
By 2019, it was time for our biggest leap yet. After nine months of meticulous planning, renovations, we moved into our current state-of-the-art clinic building, still at number 20. A perfect nod to our roots.

It’s why we’ve built a team of 20 clinicians, each chosen not just for their clinical excellence, but for how well they reflect our values, trust, compassion, professionalism and community.

We’ve worked with elite athletes on international stages and brought those same standards to every treatment room here in Mangotsfield. We’ve stayed ahead of the curve, embracing innovation while never losing sight of the human touch. Most importantly, we’ve built something that feels like home, not just for our team, but for every patient who walks through the door.
