One Christmas and a Wedding

With a trip to the Houise of Commons

So here it is; December, Christmas and Blog number 12! I’m writing this earlier in the month to get it in on time for the early Christmas print but it has been a busy start already. The first thing that we did worthy of note is go to our local MP Chris Skidmore and his lovely wife’s (the now Lydia Skidmore) wedding in the House of Commons. Now this was a slight logistical challenge taking a baby with all her bits and pieces across the country to a hotel then walk her across Westminster in her buggy, politely push passed the tourists (who were still going into parliament on tours) to speak to the armed guards in our finery and ask to be let in for a wedding! It was quite surreal to be honest but I thoroughly enjoyed sharing in Chris and Lydia’s big day. The first thing that happened after we made it through security and the maze that is the House of Commons is bump into one old School friend, James (he knows who he is) and a patient John (he’s not sure who he is but it looks like I was collecting disciples). We then enjoyed the champagne followed by dinner and speeches in the Winston Churchill room, finished off by drinks on the terrace by the Thames. I have to confess that because we had a buggy we couldn’t go the normal routes up and down stairs and had to find the lifts, which meant that on the way out and after a couple of drinkies we got lost. Now I would say that we were lost for a good fifteen minutes (taking selfies) before a security guard turned up looking a little bit concerned (angry) that we were in a bit of the building that we certainly should not have been. Really they should have signs but there you go. At least I got a great shot of me with the Winston Churchill statue and Jen got one with Margaret Thatcher before we got escorted from the building!

We are having our staff Christmas do at the Mezze in the Green Dragon in Downend on a Saturday this year. I’m looking forward to it because my associate chiropractor Iain who is big and strong and works out a lot lost to me at one handed push ups at the end of the night and I have video evidence to prove it! It’s all in the hips Iain. It’s one handed pull ups this year.

After much protest from the staff we will once more be having the statuary Christmas jumper day on the last Wednesday before Jesus’s birthday. So any patients that turn up in their festive woolen outfits will be sure to earn a prize. Look out on Facebook to see the surely varied outcomes. Extra treats will be available to those who wear jumpers that make noise or light up because we like to reward those that go the extra mile.

For those who email me telling me off when I don’t mention Baby Button I can confirm that she is still a baby, she is still very cute and she still can’t quite crawl but she’s getting there!

On request, in the New Year, I promise to write some stories about my time working with the Premiership football and rugby teams and big events like the Olympics but for now I hope that those of you, that are kind enough to read my blog, have a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

How we can help you?
