When I was asked to write a blog for The Downend Voice I thought, what on earth could I write about? Then I remembered that I spend all day shooting the breeze with the beautifully varied group of people that are my patients.
My name is Dr Tim Button and I am the local chiropractor in Mangotsfield. I own Cleve Chiropractic and Next Step Exercise & Performance Centre. I have been working for over 10 years now and have specialised in sport since the beginning. I have worked in the rugby & football Premiership, the Olympics, for the GB Paralympic team and for all their ups and downs, Bristol Rovers over the last 11 seasons. Over the years of working with the sporting elite I have had many adventures and heard many stories. Over monthly blogs I will try and share with you some of the experiences that I am allowed to tell!
At the time of writing this first blog I find myself on, what my wife describes as, a babymoon in Cuba. We are expecting our first child in April and if you can get away I can honestly say a babymoon isn\’t such a silly idea, from what I understand we will need the rest! Cuba is a beautiful place with a wonderful mix of culture, live jazz, 1950\’s American cars and sunshine. Indeed it is like stepping back in time. It has a blend of Spanish Colonialism, 1950\’s American culture and communism all stirred together by a large Caribbean spoon with a dash of Havana Club Rum. I can see why Ernest Hemmingway spent so much of his time here.
Anyway I promise to write about all sorts of things from different injuries and how to treat them to what sporting and otherwise interesting things the team at Cleve Chiropractic and Next Step have been up to. You will also undoubtedly hear about any other little bits from my soon to be very different life.
On that note I would like to welcome two new members to our team, firstly Hannah Carthew a fabulous baby chiropractor specialist. Where Hannah does treat regular adult injuries she seems to have a magical connection with babies. I can\’t tell you the number of times I have referred an exhausted parent to her with a young baby that seems never to sleep and they have come back to me singing her praises without the dark circles under their eyes!
Secondly I would like to welcome my friend and colleague whom I worked with at Bath rugby and the Olympics, Keith Graham. Keith is one of the best physiotherapists that I have ever met and is regarded as one of the best in the business. Keith has also worked for many years in the NHS working on the complicated cases.
Whether you think your injury is occupational, general wear and tear or sports related, I am confident that the team here at Cleve Chiropractic will make it possible for an accurate diagnosis. With an elite standard of treatment given we should be able to get you back on track in no time.
Anyway, from a sun soaked Cuba, I look forward to writing in the next issue already,
Tim
